group photograph of Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp

Post by Akogan »

Hello, gentlemen,
I’m currently working on a bourbon label design to commemorate the O.K. Corral shootout and was wondering if there is a verified group photograph of Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp together. If such an image exists, I would greatly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.
Thank you,
Alex

Unfortunately, no such picture is known to us. There are only two verified images of Doc Holliday, and they are both solo. At the WWHA Convention in Reno this summer, Victoria Wilcox, who wrote the Southern Son sago about Doc Holliday, did a talk on the different Doc photos floating around out there, and even in all the speculations, there is unfortunately no pictures of Doc and Wyatt together.

And just for a historic note, it's possible that there was a near miss that we don't have one. When Wyatt went back to Dodge in 1883 to help his friend Luke Short, he and a group of colleagues all posed for a photo. Doc was reported in the papers to be in town for the episode, but the fact that he wasn't in the photo has led some to insist that he wasn't actually there. We don't know for sure if he was in town or not, but it sure is disappointing that the moment was missed to have Wyatt and Doc together in a picture.
